Jay Miron Sells MacNeil & Ten Pack Distribution 0

March 20th, 2010

Harrison Boyce hit us up today with some pretty big news… I’ll let him and Jay Miron explain.

“Wanted to hit you with the big news. We just posted this on our site a minute ago, but Jay has worked out a deal with Darcy and Jamie and has sold the companies to them.  Everyone is pretty happy with the situation and we have all remained good friends…” – Harrison Boyce

Here’s Jay’s words straight from macneilbmx.com.

“I have some pretty big news to announce. I have sold MacNeil Bikes, and Ten Pack Distribution to my business partners Darcy Saccucci and Jamie McIntosh who’ll continue to run them like normal. I’ve also shut down Metro Events. After spending my entire life either on a bike, or working in the bike business I’m walking away from it.
While it’s pretty scary leaving it all behind, I’m super excited for the new life that lies ahead. I haven’t yet decided what that life will be. I’m going to take a while to relax and see what comes up.

Win A Trip To The Camp Of Champions 0

March 19th, 2010

If you read the April issue, you know that we’re giving away one free session to the Camp Of Champions during our very own TransWorld session (a.k.a. Camp A), June 24-July 1, 2010. That’s right, we want to make your daydreams a reality-you could be riding Camp Of Champion’s epic glacier park with kickers, rails, boxes, and a rope tow in the heart of Whistler, B.C., Canada. What a beautiful life! We’ll be up there, too, with the TWS In Color rider crew filming for the new movie—the Forum team will also be reppin’!

All you have to do is write us describing what sort of beat situation you’re facing this summer. Are you stuck babysitting your little sister? Do you have a not-so-rad line cook job filling the void? Oh no-not summer school! How bad could it be really? We want to know. The most miserable entry as decided by the TWS staff will win. Spare no details-we can take it. Send all entries to snowmail@transworld.net, subject: Save Me From My Summer!

The winner will be announced April 5, 2010 here on twsnow.com

Details: The winner will receive a free eight-day deluxe session at Camp Of Champions including lodging, breakfast and lunch, lift tickets, coaching, and free after riding activities like skateboarding, dodgeball, and BMX.  Your flight to Vancouver is not included, all campers must be twelve or older.

Hawaii And West Coast Weekend Surf Forecast 0

March 19th, 2010

Well the Pacific Ocean is definitely hitting the winter-to-spring transition period…the North Pacific is starting to slowly grind down the storm production while the South Pacific, which is going from summer-to-fall, is starting to get more active.

Check out the latest sea-level chart…you can see the NPAC starting to really slow down as high-pressure builds in across the mid-latitudes. This increase in pressure is gradually pushing the NPAC storm track further north…blocking its ability to erode portions the “weaker” high-pressure that it would generally be able to kick around if we were in the middle of deep winter. The worst part of this transition is that this new NPAC storm is so far north that Southern California is going to see a significant decrease in North Pacific swell since the newly storms just brush past the NW edge of the swell window.

Best of 2009, Stunts: Kevin Henshaw’s C-Rail 0

October 29th, 2009

wkb0609_crail_40-500x332In March, Kevin Henshaw was scrambling to find a marquee project to anchor his section in the new Billabong wakeboarding video, Out of the Pond. He had to hurry. Billabong team manager Chris Heffner had just issued a two-week deadline for any last-minute footage, so Henshaw had time for just one project — he would have to make it count.

With help from only his roommate and girlfriend and no budget, Henshaw assembled a monstrous C-rail under one of the Sesitec System 2.0 cables at The Projects in Orlando. The rail was truly a Frankenstein affair. Henshaw recycled the wood and Trex from some of his expired rail projects …MORE…
